Henry Potts-Rubin
My interests lie in Combinatorial Commutative Algebra, an area of mathematics devoted to establishing a dictionary between Combinatorics and Algebra, so that combinatorial problems may be solved algebraically and vice-versa. I particularly like thinking about resolutions ("approximations" of "not-so-nice" algebraic objects by "nicer" algebraic objects) and using Combinatorics to analyze them. The nature of my research lets me draw a lot of pictures to play around with. Let me know if you want to chat about what Mathematics in my neck of the woods looks like!
Or chat with me about teaching Mathematics! I am first and foremost an educator, and I'm always interested in hearing about what has/hasn't worked for you in the classroom.
Or about non-Mathematics! I'm an avid crossworder, I love cats, and I need recommendations of what to experience in Maine.
